LEADERSHIP
Achieving anything today requires leadership. Good leadership empowers others. Good leadership creates environments where collaboration, creativity and camaraderie thrive. It isn't afraid to fail, to learn, to try again. It utilizes strengths and grows weaknesses. Good leadership meets the goals, accomplishes the mission, gets the job done.
Being a leader has always come natural to me. Growing up the youngest of 3 children, I had to develop leadership skills just to keep up with my 2 older siblings. I was also a keen observer, watching them, seeing their successes, learning from their mistakes, observing life. Those two traits I believe have served me well. Being an observant leader means that I have viewed both good and bad leadership and have learned from it all. Of course, the best teacher is being put in a leadership role and learning through my own successes and really, my own mistakes. My teams have been the best teachers. Leadership is humbling and requires humility. What I’ve learned through the years is a good leader empowers others and helps them succeed as we accomplish the mission. I love developing others and seeing them thrive. That’s the kind of good leadership I’ve observed. That’s the kind of leader I strive to be. That’s who I am - good soil in which others can grow and thrive.
